FAREWELL

This morning was the farewell. It was simple but very moving. Here  you have some pictures.

TURBO!!!

Yesterday in the morning we had classes about the Spanish education system and about some films we like and we explained the argument of one film and the review of it. When we finished the classes we caught a bus and we went to Montgomery Mall, first of all we went shopping, then the people who wanted to see a movie at 2:30 had to stay at the entrance of the cinema to see it.
The name of the film was Turbo. It is a film about a snail that loves the car racing and it trains to run as fast as race cars. The snail had a freak accident, it enters a car engine and it turns into an incredible snail, it can run as fast as the race cars. A taco salesman found him in the street and they went to Indianapolis 500 car race. The snail runs in the race and he wins the race and it becomes the first snail in winning an Indianapolis 500. When the film finished we had one hour more to stay in the mall and finally we went to the school to go home.

A SHORT VIDEO OF GREAT FALLS

GREAT FALLS (VIRGINIA SIDE)

Jaime and Carles

Yesterday in the morning we talked about American food and traditions. At noon, we went to Great falls in Virginia. It’s a very beautiful natural park and the river Potomac crosses it. This park has two sides, Maryland side and Virginia side.  We walked next to the river, into a forest.
Then we went to a shop called 7eleven and Randy, our new chaperone of the school, invited us a soda ice-cream called Slurpee and we took different sizes and flavours.  Finally, when we arrived at the school some people went to an Adventure park but I went home with my host family.

ANNAPOLIS, THE CAPITAL CITY OF MARYLAND

My day started in a different way; because I got asleep I only had 5 minutes to prepare my Packed-lunch and eat my breakfast. Jorge’s host family dad carried me to the high school of Our Lady of Good Counsel, and when we got there we directly went to class. In yesterday’ s class we spoke about Annapolis, which was going to be our destiny yesterday, the class was interesting we learnt many things as for example, the way  the city looks like and ghost stories about it.

When we finished our classes we went to Annapolis by bus, it wasn’t a large trip, it lasted for about 40 minutes. By the time we got there, we went to a location and we had a 2 and half hour  free tour for us as part of an activity, in which we tried to look for some famous sites, that finally we were unable to find. After all this, we returned to the bus and we came back to school.

In the evening we had a party at Jorge’s house, I really enjoyed it. We met lots of American teenagers, and there was music, food and different sodas to drink; and when the party ended I slept at Jorge’s house.

We started the day with two hours and half of  English classes and we were very sleepy. This week we will have a new teacher, Beth. After that we went to Georgetown. We did a tour. We saw  Washington Cathedral and the huge Georgetown University. After that, we had free time to shop. Then we arrived in Washington DC. We saw the Washington monument, the White House, the Capitol and the Lincoln memorial. We took a lot of pictures of the different places we visited. We arrived at school and we went home with our host families.

A NEW VIDEO, THIS TIME FROM NEW YORK !

NEW YORK, NEW YORK ...

These days in NY were very special. Firstly because it's probably the most important city in the world and it was our dream to go this place.

We arrived to the "Big Apple" on Friday afternoon, seeing the skyline while we were on the bus, it was gorgeous! After that experience we went to the hotel, it was a good one (****). And then we took the ferry to Staten Island to see the Statue of Liberty and the hundreds and hundreds of skyscrapers that were there.

We saw Wall Street and the 9/11 Memorial Building that is called Tower of the Liberty and is going to be the highest in the States. When we looked at that building we remembered so many people that were killed that day. Finally we went across Brooklyn Bridge and we saw that, at night, most of the people were still working in their offices, offering us one of the greatest photos we can ever have.

To make matters better, on Saturday we started going to the Empire State Building that was the tallest building in the world many years ago. We went to the 86th floor. The views of the whole city were overwhelming; when we were there we could see from Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park.

After that, we went to Times Square and we saw thousands of bright advertisements there and it was also a very crowded part of the city that never sleeps. And then we went to Rockefeller Centre and a little bit of Central Park.

We had dinner in one of the most typical American restaurants there, inside there was life Broadway musical played by the waiters. I thought this was the most exciting moment of our days in NY but I was wrong, we finished the night on a Limousine tour in the city centre, including Rockefeller Centre and Times Square. For me and my friends it was a dream that we couldn’t believe it was happening that night.

The last day we went to see the National History Museum that is a fantastic place to go, while we were entering, some sketches of movies like Night at the Museum came through and made us remember that we might see some of the protagonists that appear in the movie. After, we went to see the house where John Lennon used to live and was killed, that was our last visit and then we returned to Washington DC with our families.
